We are presently looking for interns to work with us.  Academic credit can be arranged.

The WIIS West internship program challenges selected interns to have the courage to pioneer new ground. This is a hands on experience where you'll be given exposure to senior level leaders and will develop a strong network in the peace and security sectors. 




  • Preferred background in one of the following fields: Security Studies, Homeland Security, Peace Studies, International Affairs, Human Rights, Psychology, Social Psychology, International Business, Government, Marketing, Communications, or any related field(s)

  • Passion for “out of the box” thinking and problem solving

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality

  • High degree of comfort—or willingness to learn—digital and social media

  • Highly motivated self-starter

  • Possess an ability to work independently as well as collaborate with others

  • Well organized and able to function in a creative, sometimes chaotic environment

  • Good sense of humor and flexibility

  • Positive attitude and proven work ethic 

  • Fluency in other languages is a plus


RESPONSIBILITIES (Include but are not limited to):

You will assist with the day-to-day operations of WIIS WEST. While we will do our best to match your responsibilities to your skills and interests, we are looking for individuals who can assist with one or more of the following tasks:


  • Research topics connected to the intersection of digital media, peacemaking, the arts, security, governance, and positive psychology

  • Maintenance of our online presence (twitter, FB, blog, website)

  • Contribute to the development of our quarterly newsletter

  • Contribute to the marketing and PR campaigns

  • Manage events calendar and logistics

  • Identify and develop relationships with affiliate organizations (public/private/and academic)

  • Help manage vendor relations
